Now Entering Year 12

Hey gang! Man, time sure does fly. It really doesn’t seem like twelve years ago, I decided that I would start an anime and manga blog, back then on the Blogger platform. But here we are.

Remembering That First Night

Its weird what kinds of things stick in one’s mind. I remember vividly the night I decided to pull the trigger on writing a blog rather than the reviews I did for Community Anime Reviews (haven’t updated my profile in ages there, so if you click the link, my “top ten” lists are out of date). It was very exciting to create a Blogger account and get things rolling.

My first blog post was more of a test than anything. Believe it or not, I was initially going to delete it. But then I thought, “Why not leave it up to show where the journey actually began?” The rest, as they say, is history.

The Future

I know that this past year has been a bad one for me in terms of blogging. Its weird how things change over time. The fires I once had for a lot of things are just no longer there. Take the Lupin III Part 5 series. That’s been over for quite a while. I made it through 20 episodes and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed it. So why is it that if I never watched another episode, I wouldn’t miss it?

And its not just anime. I rarely watch anything any more. I’ve got stacks of DVDs and BDs for American movies and shows that are still sealed. This past year, I pretty much stopped going to see movies in the theater. I used to go with friends to see several movies, but any more, I’m like, “Yeah, well, maybe I’ll watch it when it comes out on BD…maybe.” ?

Since I don’t want to quit blogging, my solution has been to just write when I feel like it. And even then, I’m writing about what I want to write about. So that means that even though I do plan to return to Lupin III Part 5 and finish episode blogging it, I’m not forcing myself.

Still, I do hope that the fires will burn once again. So until next time, thanks to all of you for your continued support in the upcoming year!
